LAS VEGAS (Sept. 1, 2023) – Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM)’s Las Vegas campus hosted a graduation ceremony on Thursday, celebrating 55 students who successfully completed their aviation maintenance training. The graduates completed AIM’s rigorous curriculum, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the aviation industry.
The keynote speaker at the ceremony was Evie Garces, American Airlines Vice President of Line Maintenance. Garces, a prominent figure in the aviation maintenance field, shared her insights and experiences with the graduating class and provided them with valuable knowledge and inspiration as they begin careers in the aviation industry. Garces began training for her aviation maintenance career in high school and became an aviation maintenance technician at an early age. She has since served in multiple leadership roles at the airline throughout her career.
“American is excited for today’s graduates who completed some of the most demanding aviation maintenance training,” said Garces. “Graduation is just one step in these students’ aviation maintenance career paths. As this next generation of aviation maintenance professionals prepares to enter the workforce, we are eager to meet them at the interview table and welcome them into our hangars.”
An American Airlines-branded classroom was unveiled at the campus, further enhancing the learning environment for future aviation maintenance professionals. The classroom is one benefit of a partnership between AIM and American, which highlights the commitment of both organizations to develop skilled aviation professionals.
“The relationship that AIM has built with American Airlines is incredibly important to our students and the communities we serve,” said Dr. Joel English, Executive VP of the institution. “As our graduates become certified and ready for employment, we are thrilled to be able to provide American with certified technicians to join their workforce.”
The day served as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the graduates, as well as the ongoing commitment of AIM Las Vegas to providing quality education and training in the field of aviation maintenance. With the aviation industry experiencing rapid growth, there is an urgent need for skilled professionals to meet the increasing demand. AIM recognizes this challenge and is committed to providing comprehensive education and training programs.
