VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Aug. 25, 2023) – Delegate Jackie Glass acknowledged the contributions of Aviation Institute of Maintenance during her address to graduating students of Green Run Collegiate’s (GRC) summer camp on August 10, 2023. The camp, a two-week run of programming at Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Centura College, and Tidewater Tech, provided hands-on activities to sixty-two incoming GRC students.

At Centura College, students participated in renewable energy, dental care, woodworking and metal bending activities and were taught to read vital signs. At Tidewater Tech, students learned the importance of checking a vehicle’s tire pressure, oil, and air filters, and were exposed to hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) maintenance. Students learned about HVAC troubleshooting, virtual and physical welding, and carpentry. At Aviation Institute of Maintenance, students practiced piloting drones and learned about engines, hydraulics and landing gear maintenance, robotics and coding, and engine run ups.
In recognition of their outstanding commitment to the Commonwealth, AIM was presented with a letter of commendation in the form of House Joint Resolution No. 786. The joint resolution states that “The General Assembly hereby commends the Aviation Institute of Maintenance for its legacy of service… as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the organization’s contributions to the Commonwealth.”
